Its been a busy week. I was meaning to keep up better with this blog over break, but that didn't happen so well. Yesterday and today were long work days (10 hours) and then I babysat tonight from 6-9ish. Lots of people are coming back to Ankeny tomorrow. I am so not ready for school to start up again on Monday. I don't feel mentally ready. As I end conversations with friends on facebook chat, instant messanger, and texting, I decided to play some music. This one reandom song just caught my attention - well actually its just one phrase of the song. Its called "Thankful" and sung by Josh Groban. And the phrase? "There's so much to be thankful for" Like for real? Wow! I don't know why, but isn't it just crazy how much we can focus on being thankful around Thanksgiving, but then just a few short months later where are we? For me anyway, I know Im back to being my normal, ungrateful, selfish self. I decided to look up the rest of the lyrics for this song and what I found was good.
"Thankful"
Somedays we forget
To look around us
Somedays we can't see
The joy that surrounds us
So caught up inside ourselves
We take when we should give.
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be.
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see.
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for.
Look beyond ourselves
There's so much sorrow
It's way too late to say
I'll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth
It's so long overdue
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And every day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for.
Even with our differences
There is a place we're all connected
Each of us can find each other's light
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though this world needs so much more
There's so much to be thankful for
and with that...I will say good night!
(and maybe one of these days I will get back to doing my Thankful Thursday.....)
