It was a great weekend. Adam and I left for MN at around 7:00 on Friday night. Pretty much as soon as we left Ankeny, we realized that we had forgotten to fill up on gas so we decided to take the next exit and get gas. Using Adam's handy little GPS, we found the closest gas station and drove towards it. As we got to the town, we saw a closer gas station and stopped to fill up, no big deal....except...I guess someone had run into one of the gas pumps and gas was spilling out everywhere so they turned off all the pumps (we gathered this information when the police arrived since no one there bothered to tell us when we pulled up that the pumps weren't working.) So, Adam climbed back in the car and we drove off to the other gas station that was in that town. This is when his handy little GPS started becoming not so handy. => It told us to turn on a road that wasn't there and then we were supposed to arrive at the gas station. What we found a little ways down the road we were on was an old, out-of-service station. We turned back to the GPS and found the next closest station and again, it told us to drive on invisible roads. After taking a few big circles, we finally made it to Ames, probably driving on fumes alone, and found a working, visible gas station :D.
We arrived in MN around 10 and sat and talked to Doc and his family for a little while before I decided it was time to crash. Saturday was a very fun day, but for some reason, very exhausting for me. I got to sleep in late, but still was very tired by the end of the day. Adam Murrell and his cousins and Brian LaPine came out to the farm so the boys could do some airsofting. They started that at 11 and didn't finish until close to 2. I spent the morning hanging out with Heather and we both had a great time just wandering around outside. The very last part of the airsofting, Adam and I sat on the roof to watch the game and it was an amazing view. I should have gotten up there sooner to watch the entire thing! We then went to lunch and then ran around and got stuff ready for the youth activity we were in MN for. Nerf Wars!!!!!!!!!!!! It was amazingly fun! I guess there were about 7 teens that had signed up to come and there were about 30 that showed up! I think everyone had a blast running around shooting each other with the nerf guns from 4-10. Adam's head was killing him by the end of the day so by time we got back to the farm we just put in a movie and went to bed soon after. Sunday morning we got up and went to church. It was a great message....haven't heard one like it in a long time. Now I understand so much better why it was so hard to find a good church here in Ankeny after being spoiled by Pastor LaPine's preaching!! After church, Adam, Steve and I went to Chipottle for lunch. We had a fun time catching up and talking about school starting up again. Around noon, Adam and I went to his mom's to vist with here and Bryan and Zac. I thoroughly enjoyed wathing the boys go on and on about so many different things. :D I think we all had a great time there. From his mom's apartment we went to see his dad and talked with his dad for a good half hour. Then it was time to hit the road again. Adam got his well deserved rest on the way back to Iowa and I didn't wake him up until we were almost home. After running a few errands here in Ankney, I dropped him off at his place then came back to my apartment to unpack and check email, phone messages and, of course, facebook. =) I went back to Adams and crashed for about 10 minutes until Rebecca came over and she made some Lemon Bars while I talked her ear off. I was sorta a little hyper, so we decided to let the boys have a little peace while they played Halo and went off to go shopping. We bought a few movies and returned to Adam and Adam's to watch one...they continued to play halo with Adam's brothers. The movie finished shortly after midnight and Rebecca and I drove back to our places and I crashed. I was so worn out and I have no idea why, but it was a great weekend.
However, this weekend I was also informed that my Uncle had passed away. =< Its so hard especially since it has only been two very short months since Grandma died. Im not sure how my Aunt can stand to lose her husband and mom or my cousins losing their grandma and dad. Please pray for our family during this time. The funeral is in Grundy Center at 10 on Thursday.
I am going to go eat some lunch and get ready for work. Ill try to keep up with posting more later. Have some more fun stories from this weekend....I really really really need to get myself a good camera so I can have picutres with all these posts.
